Autumn Royal is a late-maturing black seedless table grape developed by David Ramming and Ron Tarailo of the USDA-ARS in Fresno, CA 1981.
Table grape variety. Used as a dessert or wine grape
The cultivar produces large, dark purple to black berries which ripen in late September to mid-October.
The commercial appeal of Autumn Royal rests on its large berry size and late maturity, as well as the fact that relatively few inputs are required for the production of high quality fruit.
The dark purple/black berries are larger than other seedless varieties and have a thin skin and juicy, sweet translucent yellow-green flesh.
Requires a cold greenhouse or a sunny outdoor position:
Grown in a sunny, sheltered position they will produce bountiful crops of delicious sweet fruits even in the UK.
Deciduous ornamental vine with bright green leaves and large delicious, plump purple/black thin skinned fruit. Excellent flavour, firm flesh.
While grapes tolerate a fairly wide range of soil chemistry and conditions, a pH of 5.5 - 6.5 is generally recommended.
